Our Process
Once booked, our baby specialist photographers with arrive to your home for your scheduled appointment, which has been reserved exclusively for you and your baby. You will have an opportunity to purchase all of the images at the end of the portrait session.
Please prepare the following items for your session:
Bath Towels
When it comes to positioning your baby for their photos, we ask that you provide two to three adult-sized bath towels.
Blankets
Please provide a plain, light-coloured (preferably white) blanket for your baby to lie on. We also suggest having a receiving blanket on-hand.
Outfits
Let us capture your child in their most special outfit. We encourage parents to keep a bib on their baby until it’s time for photos. That way we’ll have no problems with drool or spit up!
Props
We encourage you to prep your baby’s favourite small stuffed animal, hat, sports hat, or toy.
Please note that it would be beneficial if you don’t bathe or feed your baby just before the portrait session as doing so will make your baby sleepy. We also ask that you do keep your baby in his/her sleeper until the photographer arrives, as they will shoot some diaper photographs first.
The Baby Photographers Inc. aims to make your portrait session a very special once-in-a-lifetime event for you and your child. If you have older children, we welcome you to include them in the portraits with the baby. Please dress the older children in their favourite outfits before our photographer arrives.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How many photos will be shot during the portrait session?
The number of photos shot depends on the portrait session, number of children being photographed and the cooperation of the baby, however for most portrait sessions we shoot 15 to 20 images.
2. What's the best age to photograph my baby?
The best age to do this style of photography is between the ages of six to nine weeks, however we do photograph babies up to the age of six months.
3. Is it possible to reschedule if necessary?
Surprises often come up and we understand if you need to reschedule the portrait session, however there is no need to cancel if your baby is cranky or fussy on the day of the session. Our baby specialist photographers are experienced and will be able to calm your baby in order to complete the shoot.
4. What happens after my portrait session?
After the portrait session, our baby specialist photographers will explain all the options available to you.
5. When do I have to pay?
A deposit is required at the time the portrait session is booked and will be applied towards the package chosen. Deposits are non-refundable.
6. Which payment methods do you accept and/or prefer?
We accept cash, e-transfer and credit card.
7. How long does the portrait session take?
A portrait session normally lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour.
8. When will I get my photos?
Once we receive payment you will receive your digital images within the next 24 to 48 hours.
9. How do I print my photos?
When you receive the high resolution digital images we can print them for you, or you may take them to any reputable company to print the images. Please see prices under Packages.
10. How do I get my digital photos?
You will receive an email with a link to download the digital images within 24 to 48 hours once payment is received.
11. I'd like to give a portrait session as a gift, is that possible?
Yes, you may provide a portrait session as a gift. Please contact the office to pre-pay for a portrait session and you will receive a gift card to present to the recipient.
12. What if my baby is nervous around strangers?
We take pride in our work and are very professional in our treatment of your baby. We have the experience to safely handle and pose your baby. Our first priority is to make sure your baby is safe and comfortable. All of our baby specialist photographers are required to complete a criminal background check.
